The Art of Fashion With Danielle de Vito @ Webster Hall

by admin on November 13, 2009

Wild Rover’s very own Director of Photography just exhibited some of her work at the Art of Fashion event at Webster Hall in NYC. Check out her work below, and don’t be shy to contact her to either to tell her how awesome she is or schedule her for a project. For more of her work check out her site.

WR: How did you get involved with Art of Fashion?

DD: I stalk the Web for opportunities to showcase my work and/or develop my portfolio. I saw an advertisement and contacted the curator of the show to see if he would be interested in showcasing some of the fashion imagery I had created in the past. He was excited about my work – so I took a ride down to Webster Hall to meet up with him and check out the space! It was a go from there!

WR: What was the concept behind your exhibit?

DD: I wanted to be able to showcase some of the fashion work I had already done – but I also wanted to come up with a quirky unique concept to get people to be interested in our area and create a buzz. We were given restrictions by the venue on size and method of display but we really wanted to bring a new level of glamour and glitz to our area. Our display incorporated purple spotlights, and gorgeous purple Kale in shiny vases to add sparkle and interest. Inspiried by the idea of “fashion” in itself – it was important for me to invent a way to get business cards to potential clients in a non-traditional and memorable way while staying with the theme of the show. After days of brainstorming – the idea of using wearable jewelry to display the photos emerged. My friend, and model, Angeline Kenny and I made each piece by hand and attached them to the business cards to create a finished product. We designed the display to look like one you would find in a retail store. It turned out better than we could have even expected! Viewers loved how we exhibited the earrings and were happy to wear them throughout the night.

WR: Whats next for danielle deVito photography!?

BB: The possibilities are endless!! Now that we have unexpectedly dove into the idea of combing the art of photography and jewelry design – we are planning to spend some time to really fine tune the design of the product – as well as continue to create gorgeous imagery that my clients will cherish for a lifetime.
